My name is Deborah Schanberger and I am the artist behind the The Ginger Chik and Ginger Snap Creations. I am a sarcastic red head with a wicked artistic side. I specialize in fine art, illustration, mixed media, graphic design and product photography.

My mother passed when I was young so my childhood memories are a blur, but two things stood out. One, was my big red hair. My mother brushed it and meant well but, she sent me out of the house looking like Ronald McDonald and Bob Ross's love child. Two, I knew I wanted to become an artist or veterinarian. After watching a vet pull a fly larva out of my rabbit's shoulder, I decided, 'art it was!'. I focused my energy into creating art for school projects, gifts and 4-H but, I was still interested in math and science (said no artist ever). 

It was no surprise that as an adult, I've been drawn to jobs that utilize both sides of my brain. From art, music, culture and food, to machining, engineering, sales and finally technical writing; I’d say I’ve done just that. Outside of work I enjoy healthy living, high-performance organic gardening, hiking and spending time with the people and dogs that make me laugh each day.
 

My current work is inspired by light, color, design and the magic of 80s and 90s nostalgia as it brings me back to the childhood I feel I missed. Whether it is a familiar sound of a video game, the sight of an iconic cartoon character or the smellI of a certain food; I am transported back to a time where adulting doesn't exist and I can get lost in the creativity and the limits of my own imagination (cue the Willy Wonka soundtrack).
